ABOUT WALDDIE

  • A.

The root of Walddie is Wald which is German for "forest."  We consider ourselves to be aficionados in the field of offering local Christmas trees online, therefore Walddie is to Christmas, what foodie is to good eating.

We find farmers in your area that grow high quality Christmas trees and share our passion to deliver that quality to our customers at an affordable price. You can search for Christmas trees and find our partner farmers all within a few clicks. Once you've found the perfect tree to purchase from your chosen farmer, simply add your tree to the cart.  Our farmers are then notified of your order, and when your tree is ready to be cut, our farmers go onto the farm and cut down your tree. From there, we take care of all logistics and before you know it, your tree is delivered to your home and we guarentee it will be fresh!

We currently deliver to Boston, New York City, Westchester and Southern Connecticut, Parts of Long Islands, the Hamptons (excluding Montauk), Washington D.C. Baltimore and Philadelphia. We are expanding every season so if we are not delivering in your area, please send us a message via support@walddie.com and let us know you are interested.

The standards for quality in the industry are well known and ranked by a tiering system with 1 being the best, 2 average, and 3 representing a poor standard. Most trees that are sold at big lots fall between a 2 and 3. To tier a tree as a 1, a tree must have an even cone shape, uniformly spaced branches, and be vibrant in color. Farmers who partner with Walddie have an abundant selection of tier 1 quality trees because we only look for the highest quality when we partner with our farmers.

Ideal is in the eye of the beholder.  The ideal tree is defined different for everyone. Christmas trees are one of nature’s beautiful gifts, therefore each tree is unique. That said, to make it as a Walddie tree, our trees must exhibit characteristics of high quality including; a symmetrical cone shape, evenly spaced branches for hanging ornaments and a vibrant, robust color.

When a Walddie tree is cut, the farmer cuts the initial inch off the tree.  It is always suggested that you cut another 2cm or 1 inch off the bottom of your tree before you place into the stand. Please see our Care page section for more details and helpful hints.

Most municipalities offer a tree removal service in January. These trees are typically recycled into mulch for city or regional parks. We currently do not offer a tree removal service, though it is on our list of things to do for Walddie in 2017.

Less than 0.001% of real Christmas trees start a fire in the home. Heat sources near your Christmas trees should be placed out of the way, or kept a vigilant eye on at all times. With regular watering, the risk of fire is dramatically reduced. Please visit our Care page for more details.
